Information.
Placing Lots:
First download the lot you want and put it in:
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray.
Then you can place lots from hood view as you have always been able to.

Open the Gallery

Go to "My Library"

Click the lot you want

Click the icon to place lot in the lower right corner

You now have the option to place unfurnished or furnished. Keep in mind though, that if you place unfurnished, you will not be able to choose furnished when you move a sim in. However if you place it furnished, you can still move a sim in unfurnished.

Put it where you want it. Make sure you exit back to "Manage Worlds" via the menu and save, as opposed to the "Manage Worlds" button.
Downloading mesh:
Once you found what you’re looking for, click the item. Make sure you read the description. Sometimes items for download don’t include the mesh. The mesh is the base item it needs to make the item you’re looking at. Most things for download have the mesh included, and if it doesn’t the link to download the mesh should be provided.
How to turn on mods in the game:
Go to "Game Options" and click "Enable Custom Content and Mods".
How to unzip a file:
Launch WinZip from the start menu or Desktop icon. Open the compressed file by navigating to the folder using the WinZip Files pane and double clicking on the compressed file.

If you only want to unzip some of the files, click on a file in the zip file pane and then check the box for each additional file or folder you want unzipped.

Click the on the Unzip to button in the Actions pane

Choose the destination folder to place the uncompressed files and click "Unzip" button.

Your extracted files will appear in the WinZip file pane in the selected destination folder.
